Ranakpur Temple is one of the five major Temples from Jain pilgrimage. It is situated in village of Ranakpur in Desuri Tehsil, near Sadri town in the Pali district of Rajasthan in western India. Ranakpur temple is situated distance 95 KM from Udaipur city. There are easily available regular buses from the city of Udaipur. It was believed to have been built by Seth Dhahran Sah (a Jain Businessman) with the help from Maharana Kumbha, who emperor Mewar in the 15th century. Ranakpur temples are famous for being the major pilgrimage and important temple of the Jain religious.
Jain Temple of Ranakpur is surely creditable for their super architecture. It was completely constructed in light color sandstone and includes a basement covering a part of 48000 sq feet. There are approximately 1400 exquisitely shaped pillars that support the temple.
There are several temples in the complex includes Parsavanath temple, Chaumukha temple, Surya Temple and Amba Mata Temple. Chaumukha Temple is the most popular among all of them and as the name Chaumukha advised, this temple is four-faced. It is dedicated to Lord Adinath, who is the first Jains Tirthankar. This Temple structure is high complex having four special doorways to get into the chambers. These chambers ultimately image of Adinath is located.This image is surrounded by various domes and small shrines.It is a masterwork of architecture and boast of not less than four extra temples.It has 80 domes with 24 pillars halls that are supported by 400 columns. Each column is complicatedly carved and it is astonishing to know that don’t two column has the similar design.
