Alwar is a city and administrative headquarters of Alwar District in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is a part of National Capital Region (NCR) and is located around 160 km south of Delhi, and about 150 km north of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan.
India's highest ever recorded temperature of 50.6 °C (123.1 °F) was measured at Alwar on 10 May 1956.[1]
Alwar was formerly the capital of the princely state of Alwar. It was formerly spelt as "Ulwar" in British India. This placed it in last position in alphabetically ordered lists, so a king changed the spelling to "Alwar" to bring it to the top.

How to reach
By Auto
There are autos available from the railway station. They are not very expensive and can the prices can be bargained and many of the drivers speak halting English. They charge around Rs 100 to 150 to reach the main areas of the city. Auto rickshaws generally have special night fares. It may however be difficult to hail an auto during the night.
By Bus
Frequent government buses ply to most parts of the city. They are generally crowded and not comfortable. Government buses are cheap and can be hailed at any point. They charge around Rs 10 to 20 to reach from one end of the city to another.
By Taxi
Another option is to hire one of the local taxis that are available. Most of them charge around Rs 6 per km for Tata Indica and Rs 9 per km for Toyota Qualis.
